MPD Makes Arrest in 2024 Armed Carjacking
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in an armed carjacking that occurred on July 4, 2024, in Southeast.
On Thursday, July 4, 2024, at approximately 9:39 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to Howard Road and Suitland Parkway, Southeast, for a report of an armed carjacking. The suspect, a passenger in a rideshare vehicle, produced a firearm and demanded the victim’s vehicle. The suspect struck the victim with the gun. The victim pulled over and exited the vehicle and the suspect fled with the car.
On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, pursuant to probable cause, officers located and arrested 25-year-old Jerail Stroud, charging him with Theft (First Degree) and Carjacking.
