Armenia records over 96% growth in deposits of foreign nationals – cenbank governor
YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS. Deposits in Armenia grew approximately 43%, with high growth being recorded in deposits of non-residents in 2022 – totaling 1 billion 287 million drams, Central Bank Governor Martin Galstyan said at a press conference in response to a question from ARMENPRESS.
“Deposits grew around 43%, from which the growth of deposits of residents comprised 29,4%, and the growth of deposits of non-residents 96,3%,” Galstyan said.
Speaking about deposits of residents, the governor said the reserve indicator as of December 31, 2022 totaled 3 billion 370 million drams, and the indicator of non-residents totaled 1 billion 287 million drams. “The deposits of non-residents had the highest pace of growth,” he said.
Lending also grew in 2022. Excluding the currency effect, the growth totaled around 15%. Most of the growth took place at the expense of resident loans.
