Sisters of St. Benedict will explain annulment

Evansville

Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand are offering a program, “Annulment in the Catholic Church: Dispel the Myths, Journey toward Healing,” that will explain what an annulment is, what it is not, and who needs an annulment.

The program will be held Wednesday, September 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. ET at the Benedictine Hospitality Center at Kordes Hall on the grounds of Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana. It will be presented by Sister Celeste Boda, OSB, who holds a Juris Doctorate from Hamline University School of Law, and is judicial assistant to the judicial vicar in the Tribunal for the Diocese of Owensboro, Kentucky.

The theology of marriage as outlined by the Church will be discussed. Also to be explored are the types of annulment processes, the grounds for invalidity in formal annulment cases, and how one starts the process. Information presented will incorporate the revised process enacted by Pope Francis I and effective as of December 8, 2015.

The workshop is free, but a free will offering will be appreciated. Registration is due September 18. For more information, or to register, call 800-880-2777, or 812-367-1411, ext. 2915, or visit www.thedome.org/events.
